When I was planning our Ecuador trip, I kissed a lot of frogs.
Amazon lodges, to be exact.

At one place, I watched a guide pop a maggot the size of his thumb into his mouth like it was a gummy bear. Still haunts me.

At another, the guide nearly capsized us trying to poke an anaconda out of the bushes. (Because apparently “leave it alone” wasn’t on the itinerary.)

And then there was the one where the “floor” was just loose wooden slats straight into the jungle. While brushing my teeth I watched a cockroach the size of my dog crawl up through the cracks.

Remote, jaw-droppingly beautiful, and actually comfortable in a way you wouldn’t think possible in the middle of the rainforest. When I was there, the canoe that left before me was a crew of Nat Geo photographers (I dunno, feels pretty legit to me). It’s a place so remote, you only reach after a plane, a boat, a speedboat, a canoe, and a short jungle hike deep into the Amazon.

And that’s where we’re going this December. And you’re invited.

But this trip isn’t just about the lodge (as dreamy as it is). We’ll also…

No joke, this made me CRY. I saw all weather all at once - rainbows on one side, then a storm over to the east, and the sun shining behind me.

Village elders at a Kichiwa community welcome us for panchamanka, cooking food underground with volcanic stones - millennia old tradition.

Truth be told, I don't have an inner cowgirl. You'll find me in the cooking class or getting a eucalyptus infused spa treatment. Choose your adventure.

The guide rows, we just watch out for wildlife and hope it rains on us. The smell, the sounds, the peace…I can’t describe it.

…and literally so much more.
