My funniest travel moment of 2025
I have a travel story that is chaotic. Totally unhinged. The kind of story that absolutely kills at dinner parties.
And I am not going to tell it here.
Not because I don’t want to.
Because I would like this email to survive the spam filters.
So let’s just say this. I was traveling with a friend who had very little travel experience.
We were in a crowded old city. People everywhere. And a certain very happy stray dog.
Something small and unexpected happened.
She panicked. Spectacularly and in the weirdest way I have ever seen in my years of leading groups of travelers.
It involved a pharmacy, a bottle of lube, that happy little dog, and some very confused locals. That’s all you need to know.
Travel has a way of turning people up to full volume.
The helpers help harder.
The worriers spiral faster.
The planners grip the plan with both hands.
You don’t really know how someone travels until you are tired, overstimulated, and standing next to them thinking, “Wow. We are having very different reactions to this.”
That is why traveling with acquaintances, even friends, can feel risky.
![]() | On our tours, the chaos level is much lower. The biggest drama is someone obsessing over trying all the falafel in Egypt or learning the local language and practicing in the van. That is the vibe. You show up. |
If you want that kind of travel, you can see our upcoming trips here.
And if you ever meet me in person, remind me to tell you the full story.
Preferably over wine.
xoxo,
