International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day was created in 1908 to raise awareness of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women, and to advocate for women’s rights and gender equality around the world.

Fast forward 115 years later, it’s clear how far we have come and how much work there is still left to do before reaching true equality.

But you don’t have to be a politician to make real change. There are so many ways all of us can contribute and continue the efforts of our predecessors every day.

One of the ways we like to contribute is by supporting women owned businesses.

Within The Solo Female Traveler Network we like to do this in a few different ways:

  1. Using as many females guides as possible on our women only Meetup Tours

  2. Supporting local women NGOs

  3. Choosing women run experiences and services whenever possible

Today we want to show you some of the women and women run organizations we collaborate with across the globe for our Meetup Tours.

Yummet in Cuba

Meet Yummet, our powerhouse of a guide in Cuba. Both full of patience and love for all women, she is also one of the most resilient, strong, and fearless people we have ever met.

Disi Women’s Co-op in Jordan

There is something extra special about being a group of only women, including the guide, when we travel through Jordan. Here, we support Bedouin women, but they give us so much more - a peek into their lives with honest convos and impromptu dance parties.

Tini in Bali

That smile says it all. Tini guides our travelers through Bali with a true traveler's spirit- always curious, open-minded, and kind. In a world where it would be so easy to take the easy road, Tini follows her dreams.

We as a network want to be known for creating a safe space for the fellow women in our lives.

To foster an environment free of judgment and full of empathy.

To foster an environment that helps women chase their dreams and become the best version of themselves.

We also want to embrace the gratitude that we feel for what we do have. to embrace what the women before us fought hard for so that we could experience what they may not have been able to.

For us that means traveling, experiencing new cultures, meeting women from around the world, and forever challenging our perspective and way of thinking.

The creation and growth of The Solo Female Traveler Network is our contribution to the efforts in making this world a more equitable place. We believe that when we ban together, everything is possible.

To celebrate yourself and the other women in your neighborhood, city, and around the globe, please use the code CELEBRATEWOMEN for 10% off ALL April and May Meetup Tours.

*This offer is valid through March 13th.
